A public fishing pier opened in 2021 on Deer Island, reaching out toward the flats at the mouth of Boston Harbor. Bluefish blitz the pier in summer alongside striped bass, and its position right at the harbor's entrance puts anglers in the path of fish moving in and out on the tide.
